What is a REALTOR? A REALTOR is a practicing Real Estate Agent that has taken their professionalism to a higher level and joined the REALTOR Organization. It is a Trade Organization that provides services, education, mediation, arbitration and ethics to its members.

The Greater New Bedford Association of Realtors recently formed a Membership Committee to retain and recruit REALTORS. We were discussing the value of being a REALTOR for Real Estate Professionals. Why buy Brownie Mixes with all of those preservatives when this recipe is so easy and delicious!

SATANIC FUDGE BROWNIES

1 oz. chopped bittersweet chocolate, melted & cooled slightly

10 oz. finely chopped bittersweet chocolate

13 oz. soft butter (3 sticks plus 1 tbs.)

4 oz. (1/2 cup) granulated sugar

6 extra large eggs

8 oz. (1 cup) all purpose flour

1 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 350 deg. Spray 9 x 13 in. pan with non-stick spray and place 1 piece of parchment paper to line the bottom of the pan. Cream the butter and sugar in the mixer, scrape down both sides then add eggs 1 at a time. Add the salt and flour and mix till smooth. Remove the bowl from the mixer and pour in melted chocolate, mix well with a spatula. Add chopped chocolate last, fold quickly then put in prepared pan. Level out batter and place in preheated oven and bake for 30 to 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before cutting.

Now for my tip of the week:

If you bake a lot and have to use just the egg yolks, what do you do with all of those egg whites? It’s impossible to separate them if you freeze them altogether. Drop each egg white into and ice cube tray and freeze. Once they are frozen, transfer them to a zipper lock bag and you can then pull one or two out as needed.

THE RECOVERY OF REAL ESTATE

I was reading an Appraisal for a property in Marion, MA the other day, and it used a statistic of home sales growth up 11% Later, I was reading my enews from the Cape Cod and Islands Realtors and this was their information “- The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) released its latest pending home sales index figure last week, and for the second month in a row the index is up. More than that, the index has broken 100. This is significant because the only time since the housing boom collapsed that the index has broken 100 is when the home owner tax credit was in effect. The fact that the index has returned to this level a year since the credit has been in effect means the housing market is strengthening completely on its own, without any stimulus. It is also worthy to note that pending home sales have reached their highest level in 19 months according to NAR.”

I am declaring a RECOVERY! There are signs pointing toward upward trends. Let’s take the momentum and start THRIVING!
